Eschelon

The entity known as Eschelon was an aberration among Genesplicers. He liked humans. He saw the most potential for change in them as evident in the absolute chaos of their genetic history. They were susceptible to radiation and mutagens that most other species could shrug off without a second thought and half the time there was no need to introduce an outside influence, they just randomly mutated. It was like an artist finding the perfect canvas. Cheap, easy to manipulate, and hundreds of thousands of them were just strolling around the Megaverse waiting to be utilized to the utmost of their potential.
Eschelon is a 20,000-year-old Genesplicer named Tradkoiam (trad-KOH-aim). Most of his life was spent toiling with lesser beings like demons and local fauna in a tiny dimension inhabited mostly by un-evolved carnivorous plants and large bipedal snakes. He longed for a creature that he could manipulate into the ultimate life forms.
In his 14,000th year he found such a life form when he saw a rival genesplicer showing off a Cro-Magnon human in Splynn. He was mesmerized by the potential that was untapped in the simple beast-man and begged his rival for one such creature. Kleoaje (Klee-oh-ah-jey), his rival laughed out loud at the pathetic display and told the groveling Tradkoiam that the dimensions were swelling with these insects and they were beneath even his attention. Undaunted the being that would be Eschelon quickly relocated to one of the many dimensions that humans were beginning to inhabit and started an experiment that would last 4000 years.
By the time the Rifts erupted on Earth, Eschelon had almost mapped the entirety of genetic possibilities that humans could endure. When alien radiation and magic energy were introduced to the global gene pool, chaos erupted. It began a whole new experiment. Eschelon began his experiment anew while hiring mercenaries to capture fresh material for his experiments.
One of these mercenaries was the man named Ishmael Chance. Ishmael showed great interest in Eschelon's experiment and introduced the Genesplicer to human augmentation processes like the "Juicer", "'Borg", and "Crazy" methods. Eschelon went into a private study of these new "methods" of augmentation and spent nearly 30 years reading all available text on these new human variations. When he returned from his study he contacted Chance to begin a new round of experiments for him. To his astonishment Chance had gone from a simple mercenary slave to one of the most powerful sorcerers on Earth and he had a number of new ideas for the Genesplicer. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
At present, Eschelon's ship is sunk at the bottom of the harbor beside Riker's Island, where he continues his experiments and acts as consult to Chance. It was Eschelon who is believed to administer the Bio-Tanium process.

DISPOSITION: For a Genesplicer Eschelon is not very good. He is credited with a few innovations, like the Bio-tanium (whether he actually did it or not is another story), but he is not very imaginative and doesn't usually think of most things himself. Chance tells him what to try and he tries it. He is pleased with this arrangement and wouldn't do anything to endanger it. He keeps his façade of intelligence and dignity well in place but he is a yes-man and a lackey through and through.

ALLIES: Eschelon's only personal contact outside of his experiments is with Ishmael Chance, whom he sees as a brilliant mind on par with his own and a visionary beyond his races limitations.
ENEMIES: None besides those that just naturally hate genesplicers. As malignant a being as he is no one really considers him much of a threat to anything beyond himself.
DESCRIPTION: Eschelon appears to be a seven foot tall humanoid in his 70's even though he is over 20,000 years old. He is always seen wearing his protective robe and sensor glove. He is very slender with dark eyes and black hair.
WEAPONS & EQUIPMENT: Standard equipment for Genesplicers. He regularly utilizes at least three Omni-sphere's at once and a radio that connects his ship to the Rikers Island complex.
